ELLIOTT WELCOMES NEW PARKING FACILITIES AT CRAIGAVON HOSPITAL
Ulster Unionist Assembly member for Fermanagh & South Tyrone, Tom Elliott MLA has welcomed the decision of Health Minister; Michael Mc Gimpsey MLA that funding of £450,000 has been made available to Craigavon Area Hospital to improve the chronic shortage of parking spaces at the hospital.
Tom said: "I made representations on behalf of many constituents in 2007 who found it virtually impossible to park at the hospital and in many instances were forced to park on adjoining roadways. The announcement of a further 160 car parking facilities are now available and the promise of 150 new spaces by June 2008 and an additional 100 spaces by Autumn 2008 will help alleviate the problem experienced by many visitors and patients over recent years.
This means that Craigavon Area Hospital will have over 1,310 spaces available and I trust that visitors will respect the new arrangements and this is a long overdue development and I trust that this facility will continue to be free to all users and no charges introduced, as has been the case at other hospitals in the greater Belfast area"
