Ulster Unionist MLA for Fermanagh and South Tyrone, Tom Elliott, has congratulated the South East Fermanagh Foundation (SEFF) after the victims’ group was honoured with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Ulster Unionist MLA for Fermanagh and South Tyrone, Tom Elliott, has congratulated the South East Fermanagh Foundation (SEFF) after the victims’ group was honoured with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

"It is excellent to see the hard work of the South East Fermanagh Foundation being rewarded, and in particular we are delighted for the group’s director, Kenny Donaldson, who is also the Ulster Unionist Party’s spokesperson for the voluntary and community sector," Mr Elliott said.

"Its reputation is such that our European candidate Jim Nicholson made meeting with SEFF a top priority during a visit to the area in May, recognizing it as a model of excellence in volunteering.

"This prestigious award is equivalent to the MBE, and highlights the invaluable voluntary work the foundation is doing with the innocent victims of paramilitary violence.

"It is a terrific endorsement of the group’s success that it was nominated by members of the public who witnessed at first-hand the benefits to the community of its work.

"As just one of 95 across the UK to receive the award, this demonstrates the South East Fermanagh Foundation’s standing in the voluntary sector," the Fermanagh and South Tyrone MLA said.

"My congratulations also go to Morph - agents of change for young people in Dungannon normally excluded from society - who also received the Queen’s Award."
