Elliott raises concerns about Quinn Insurance

Ulster Unionist MLA, Tom Elliott, has spoken about his “concerns” regarding Quinn Insurance and called for an urgent meeting between administrators and the NI Executive.

In a statement, Mr Elliott said: “The news that Quinn Insurance has been placed into administration has shocked many people in Fermanagh. The firm employees hundreds of staff in Enniskillen and is a vital part the local economy, with a large number of family’s dependant on the wage employees make through their work for the firm. There are also many people locally who are insured with the company, and obviously they are concerned about the possible impact on their cover should the firm find itself in a position where it is faced with potential closure.”

“The Quinn group have provided excellent service for many years, not only as insurers, but also as concrete and glass makers. Indeed, they are recognised as one of the most reputable firms in Northern Ireland, having worked on a number of projects globally, so the fact they have arrived in administration with send shockwaves throughout the wider business community, not only here, but also on the mainland and the continent.”

“I believe that one positive step we could take for officials from the team of administrators meet with NI executive officials to discuss the situation in detail and the possible ramifications for the local community. We should do what we can to help the company remain financially viable and ensure that any jobs that may be lost are kept to a minimum.”

“Local people need to know that the Government is trying to help address this situation, and I hope that a meeting can be arranged as soon as possible to ensure that all which can be done is being done.”
